Other Info

We know of six roofs that were damaged and leaked as a result of Hurricane Helene (Bs 1-4, 8 and 9). All have been sealed by Crowther, but there is more work to do to eliminate all leaks. Crowther is at BP on Sunday checking the roofs for possible sources of continuing leaks. It will plug any holes it finds. These are very temporary measures. There are no guarantees that all leaks will be prevented, and no assurance they will survive a hurricane. No one, including our experts, has identified better options.

What Happened:
Hurricane Helene made landfall in the Panhandle as a Category 4 storm. The storm surge at Longboat Key reached 5-7 feet. Sustained winds peaked at 69 mph, pushing heavy rain on shore. Substantial flooding resulted. Flood waters remain but have receded leaving behind large amounts of debris, including pieces of roof insulation, dead fish, and 1″ to 5″ of very slippery muck. Saltwater infused lawns are turning brown.
